I have always related to Hel, as many people with chronic illness do. The song ‘Hel’ by Brothers of Metal encapsulates her perfectly as Mother of the Sick and Unchosen. Hel was cast into Niflheim, into a position she didn’t choose, and she became a queen of her domain. Hel is a wonderful example of making the best of the cards you’re dealt. Do you have any deities that you relate to so deeply?
