In 2022, The Guardian covered a paper commissioned by the home office regarding the Windrush scandal. The unnamed Home Office historian writes:
Thought I’d do an introduction post as I have a few new followers!
The Elder tree has a lot of mythology surrounding it but the main story that stood out to me was that of the Elder Tree Witch. This story states that Elder trees are actually witches in disguise, and if you cut one down it would transform into a witch and chase you. The only way to stop the witch would be to leap over fresh running water.
Seeking inspiration for my collection from one of my favourite writers @rosiegarlandwriter
Despite having some idea of African Diasporic magical practices, I still felt like something was ‘off’. My magical practice had taken a hit when I got married and started a business within a couple of months of each other. Like any good witch would, I decided to book a tarot reading with a good friend of mine, Hazel. @hex_tarot
Seeking some winter wisdom. This year I need to cut out things that no longer serve me, and be ruthless! Don’t rush, but be methodical. I need to surround myself with stable, creative friends and learn from them 🖤🌙
